are the holes on the bottom recessed to where no screws stick out and can scratch wood floors?

Hello and thank you for your question. Yes, the holes are recessed and no screws stick out. There are also pads that you stick to the base to protect flooring. If you have any further questions, please email us at info@sportpet.net. We always appreciate comments from our customers so we can serve you better! SportPet Designs

What is the diameter of the top perch and the post itself? Thanks!

The top is 8.75 inches and the scratching post is 6 inches. My cats do not use the top as a perch and, quite frankly, I do not view it as a perch either. That said, cats are cats and some, I'm sure, will probably view it as a challenge and perch upon it.

Is there a warranty on the kitty city xl wide premium scratching post? i mean it has some pretty big claims, like cats not being able to wear it out.

I bought one of these posts February 2020 and they are absolutely the best. I have 2 cats and it is still in almost perfect condition over one year later. I am purchasing another one but not to replace the one I have, but to replace a sisal rope one that worn out after a few months. I wrote to the manufacturer to see if they had a smaller version because I have a small house but unfortunately they do not. I will find a way to squeeze it in somewhere.
