Excel Hardware Mortice Bathroom Lock 63mm - Black Forend & Striker

We bought this door latch to match the black iron lever-handles we had obtained for our bathroom door, as it was the only one we could find that fitted a thumb-turn lock and also had a black fore-end (faceplate). When the whole assembly had been completed, we found we could hardly move the handles - they were so stiff! As the handles were very simple, the latch seemed like the obvious culprit, so we rang the manufacturers. They were really helpful with advice, and seemed genuinely concerned - even phoning back during the weekend to see how we were getting on. After a lot of puzzling we worked out that there were just too many springs in the system - one in each of the handles, and another inside the actual latch. This is no fault with the latch, as lots of knobs/handles are without springs, and at least one is needed to make the handle return to its "rest" position. After dismantling the latch and removing the spring (it had to be this way, as the ones in the handles are fixed) it was very much better, and we are now very happy with it.The latch is a great product, but dismantling ANY door latch is not for the faint-hearted!

Absolutely useless, big problem to get locking bar through the hole, one of these lock actually fell to pieces, rock bottom quality. Advise you not to buy this
