I purchased a pair of these for my new home studio office, as they looked simple and utilitarian without appearing dull and boring. The quality of the components is good (not great) for the price; there is the expected light gage steel frames and obvious imitation wood laminate shelves. What impressed me was the fact that all the parts were present, the very good packaging protected the components (even though one of the boxes suffered from 2 pretty good gouges from shipping, apparently), there was no damage or marred finishes (with the exception of a slight blemish on one edge of one of the shelves, which was assembled to be facing a wall, in my application), and everything went together with ease and per the (wordless) instruction sheets. No missing fasteners (in fact, a spare of each included); no stripped threads; assembly resulted in reasonably square and plumb bookcase units. I was pleased enough with the pair that I bought another 2 to complete my studio storage and display needs, even modifying one of the units to use as a support for a butcher block work table with a table top bookcase that now matches the rest of my ensemble. These may not be heavy gage, artisan units with real wood shelves, but they look terrific, are really sturdy, and load-capable. If I had more room in my studio, I would buy another. Or two.

Have had it for almost a month now. The set up took a bit of time and effort: about an hour, maybe more, by myself. However, it wasn't difficult: the instructions are pretty clear, and all the tools are included, all except a screwdriver.The wood shelves themselves are surprisingly strong. You can tap your knuckles on them and hear that they're naturally dense and, upon holding one of them in your hands, feel the weight (the whole thing will be healthily weighty by compete assemblage). They're also nicely coated and laminated for added protection (see attached pictures).The metal framing is also relatively strong, held together by screws which insert nicely into plastic holes installed in the wood (again, see photos).Once assembled, they hold the weight of books pretty well; SLIGHT sagging of shelf holding up my comic trade paperbacks, but it's a huge improvement over any cheapo bookshelf made of uncoated wood and cardboard backing (like my previous one, which broke during a recent move). This shelf is made of real WOOD shelves and METAL framing.Overall, I'd recommend this for its price and craftsmanship. It's pretty durable and strong, and can clearly hold the weight. Another thing to note: I was surprised to find most reviews' photos didn't show people really using this to display shelf-strength for BOOKS, specifically. So, here's an attached photo with hardcovers, paperbacks, COMIC BOOK paperbacks (which can be pretty heavy put together), some magazines and tools, and a printer. If you're looking for a 5-tier bookshelf that is reliably strong, I'd definitely recommend trying this one out.

This bookshelf looks great! It was fairly easy to put together by myself in one afternoon. The shelf is sturdy, though it’s height and small legs make anchoring it to the wall (with the provided hardware) a good idea if you have kids or pets that are likely to knock it over. If you are not going to anchor it to the wall, you don’t need any tools to put it together other than a standard sized phillips-head screwdriver.I am very pleased with this bookshelf and think that it looks far better than what you might have expected from a fairly inexpensive, assembly-required piece of furniture from Amazon. Would definitely recommend!

I recently bought two of these bookshelves to store books and knick knacks and I wanted to say that I was generally impressed with the quality of the shelves.Some pros: easy to put together, took me about an hour to put together both. They're sturdy enough for my use which I use them for books, boardgames, and figures. They look nice in general, the black metal with wood shelves is nice. For the price, it's really hard to find complaints but I do have a few. Some cons: they give you the exact amount of some of the screws and nuts so be aware that if you lose one, you'll probably have to contact them. The shelves are not real wood, it's coated with like wood looking vinyl so it's shiny but clearly not real wood. My issue with this is that it looks like it would be easy to chip or scratch so be careful. The metal parts are not always aligned perfectly which doesn't affect the overall sturdiness of the shelf, just makes assembly a little tough at times. My last complaint is the longevity of the shelf, so far they're holding up but I'm not sure if down the road they'll bend or bow.All in all, I'm very pleased with it. For the price your really can't complain. It's fairly sturdy and nice looking. If this was made with real wood, I'd give it 5 stars

I purchased one for my son's bedroom about a year ago, it has withstood the weight of heavy books and looks stylish to boot. Recently I was looking for one for my livingroom and bought one similar (different co.) because it was taller, but I was disappointed at how cheap it looked so I returned it and bought this one. It fits perfectly, looks beautiful and holds a ton of books, etc.Package arrived undamaged, all parts were included and it was easy to assemble, about 30 min or less.Would definitely buy again.

It's a nice shelf. It looks good in my house. During a recent move it did feel mildly flimsy but it holds together just fine unless you are careless or poorly assemble it - assembly took about 20 minutes, by the way. The shelves are fairly deep, allowing you to put books against the back while allowing space for other items such as decorations in front of them. It's a top-shelf-shelf for it's price.

Love the bookshelf! As some one who isn't that handy, it was easy to put together. It looks classy and is super sturdy and spacious. Would definitely recommend. As an FYI... the box is comes in is super heavy, but put together it is easy to move around.
