Lego, again one of the top toys. My grandson is 9 and I bought this for his birthday. He loves it. One I would buy again.

Challenging but enjoyable!
My 8 year old grandson loved putting this together. He found it very challenging, but with very little adult input he managed to build it and thoroughly enjoyed doing it.

Christmas prezi
Bought it for my nephew as a Christmas present and he absolutely loves it. We had a great time putting it together what requires attention (so I wouldn't recommend it to kids under 8-10yrs old). It's great that you can build two different cars from the pieces. Would buy it again.
