Great Pot For Camping
I bought this for camping and to make “Cowboy Coffee”. It does a good job and built to take the rigors of outdoor life. The coffee tasted so good I continued to use it at home as well. How it could be improved:A wooden handle or something other than the thin metallic one which gets very hot and hard to maneuver. I’ve owned 3 of these and the lid never fits, which would help to keep the liquid hot longer. It’s pretty flimsy and 2 of mine eventually broke off. There is no basket for grounds and I didn’t want one for cowboy coffee but if you are expecting one, just be advised. I love mine nevertheless and use it frequently.

Small but functional
Small, but very functional on the stove or open camp fire. Makes good coffee.

There are better options out there
The camping kettle is fine for what it is, but the lid hinge seems badly put on, creating a very loose lid when open. That said, it is basic in design and should be durable. I don't mind the shape but some family members prefer a more flatter type kettle. We'll keep it, it works but there are other options out there that may suit us better.

Very "Old School" Just Like the Ones We Camped With 50 Years Ago
Talk about the good old days! This kettle is exactly the way I remember the ones of the 1960s being, and maybe earlier, since some of the stuff I camped with in the '70s went back to grandparents' and great-grandparents' ownership and maybe was as old as the 1930s. Well, this one is just like those oldies but goodies! So the listing is indeed correct that this is all steel with a porcelain glaze. I remember all the ones like this having chipped porcelain glaze when I was a kid, but I think this one is pretty tough. I banged it once already but it's still strong. No aluminum or plastic. Just a tough kettle with a stainless steel handle that stays cool the old-fashioned way: with a coil of thick steel wire that sheds heat so I don't need a pot holder to pick it up. Simple solutions are the best solutions.I think the steel is a bit thinner than the old ones, but that's fine by me because it heats up a lot faster. And I mean a whole lot faster. On a standard electric stovetop with sealed burner beneath heat-conductive flat glass I can boil about a quart of water in maybe 7 or 8 minutes. Really, it transfers heat beautifully. An amazing value for the money!

Hot handle
Be careful because the handle and spring get very hot and you can burn yourself. Not a very good design. Also when you pour coffee spills everywhere because the spout does not allow for a smooth pour.
