Connector Type:Threaded | Item Length String:1.43 Inches | Part Number:P2525-1WA The Control Devices ball-type check valve provides tight sealing, and can be used as a tank check valve for small compressors or as a component in pneumatic circuits. The valve body is made of brass for corrosion resistance, ductility at high temperatures, and low magnetic permeability. Brass can be connected to copper, brass, plastic, aluminum, and welded steel. Fluorocarbon O-rings provide higher temperature and chemical resistance. It has female National Pipe Taper (NPT) threads on one end and male NPT threads on the other for connecting a male and a female threaded pipe. The NPT threads create a tighter seal than straight threads. The maximum pressure rating is 250 pounds per square inch (psi), and the maximum temperature is 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Check valves have two ports and restrict the flow of fluids and other loose materials through a pipe or passageway to one direction. Flow enters through one port and exits through the other, closing when flow reverses or stops. Two common types of check valves are ball cone valves and swing check valves. A ball cone valve utilizes a spring-loaded ball seated against a cone-shaped interior surface to stop the flow of fluid in a forward direction, and a swing check valve has a movable disc on a hinge to block reverse flow. Check valves are rated by their cracking pressure (the minimum upstream pressure required for the valve to operate), and they are used in various water, gas, air, and steam lines.Control Devices manufactures specialty valves, nozzles, and condensate traps. The company, founded in 1963 and headquartered in Fenton, MI, meets ASME standards.

Valve is performing fabulously. Using it to gang two compressors together with different top psi overload release valves. I need higher CFM's so I made a gay hose (male to male w/ check V) and its working awesome. Even left for HOURS no leaks or pressure changed tank to tank. As a matter of fact as I write this I'm ordering a second one. They work! if you get a defective one, exchange/return it and get a replacement cause I run this hard in my shop for long long days and it just worked! Never had any issues and I'm harsh on it.

Control Devices Brass Ball Check Valve 1/4" NPT Female x NPT Male works in HP propane
I wanted to create an extra safe high pressure propane manifold. The pigtails have flow control and check valves in the head at the OPD connection at the cylinder now but if the pigtail hose is ruptured any other cylinders connected to the manifold will drain out so I used these check valves at each NPT manifold elbow and tee side to prevent that. These valves are thick brass and probably pressure rated the same as 1/4 inch schedule 40 pipe which is rated at 700 psig (high side propane pressure is unlikely to exceed 200 psig on a really hot day). They have very low pressure to open (you can blow into them and they will open) and very high flow rate in the direction of flow. The safety ball sits against the solid brass end so it can't blow out even if the soft seat fails. Since there are no outside seams or 0-rings to fail they are ideal for use in long term outdoor use.

Turn your pancake compressor into an auxilliary tank.
I added one of these and a male quick connect to my pancake compressor so I can quickly fill it off my large shop compressor when I want to go inflate my tires or whatnot. Effectively lets me use it like a regular portable auxiliary tank, but it also has the ability to pump itself up (when I'm willing to wait for it).You can also run obnoxious lengths of pneumatic hose (eg. 200ft) from your shop compressor, feed it into the pancake/aux tank with this, then connect your tool to that, eliminating the pressure drop off from all the hose.

Compare item to label
I really don't know if this check valve is good or not. When received, the package was marked as a check valve, but there was actually a pressure relief valve in the package. I then reordered and I got exactly the same wrong part again. Took both parts to an amazon locker a few days ago for return. Not Amazon's fault, because sealed bags were marked correctly, but contained strong item. Somebody sure made a big mistake

Failed within months. Company stood by their product.
I used this check valve for a train horn setup on my vehicle. It worked wonderful for a few months and spontaneously failed for no reason. I wrote the manufacturer and they sent me another check valve free of charge after I explained what happened. I don't know if I just got a defective product or if they all fail that quickly. It is super easy to install as long as you have a good wrench set or some crescent wrenches.I'm happy the manufacturer backed their product, because of that, I may actually buy their products again in the future.

Exactly what I needed!
I needed this check valve so I could run both my Harbor Freight Compressors in Parallel. I ran two of these one on each compressor before I T’d them together to my main tool line. This prevents the compressors from filling each other up and potentially damaging the other.

Not for low pressure use (< 15 psi)
This valve does not block lower pressure (< 10 psi ) back flow. I can blow (a human can create just 1-2 psi) through it in both directions. Also, it is quite noisy (buzzing and chattering) when passing fluid in its "free flow" direction.Inline with 50 psi @ 4 cfm it caused an unacceptable 4-5 psi pressure drop. It's going back...

Save your money!
Didn’t work for my application. I used this to prevent my secondary reserve air tank from bleeding down. It doesn’t hold however. I run roughly 130psi on the setup and it still bleeds down through the check valve. I’ll have to purchase one from Swagelok. It’ll be more money, but it’ll definitely work. Should’ve known better, but I took a chance. Save your money!
