SUPER EASY
Works well and super easy. Bought the scratch pad and tester drops at the same time. This is way better and easier to use... threw the others out.

Easy but not reliable
I just received the Mizar gold tester. It is easy to use but tests all gold at 10K when I know it is 14K or 18K. Now, I guess I'm stuck with it because the box says it's not returnable after being used. I deal in estate jewelry and this tester is of no value to me.

This item does test gold!
I used it and it is easy to use, tests are simple once you use it the first time. Good and farly priced.

works but
I wanted this for shows and to test gold at auctions and yard sales. Issue is you have to add chemicals to it to get it to work and if precious metals, the seller certainly does not want me to attach an alligator clip to their item to test it. So doing a test where I just want to see results is not happening especially when I have to pull out two bottles of chemicals to mix together to make it work. Setting it up in front of the person who I don't want to know they are actually selling me gold instead of a trinket like they presently think, is not a plus. They see its gold and the price goes up. Just to difficult to hide or do discreetly and not letting them see whether gold or not is not a plus. If just using at home, a great item.

Tested
First thing I did with this product was to test it against the real thing following directions exactly, I tested a ring known to be 14K gold ,then another and another etc. to be amazed at the accuracey of this machine and it was right every time.

unuseful machine
the description on the amazon website is so deficient as to be deceptive. It does not picture or say it uses chemicals. It is difficult to say what tiny pieces of gold this machine was made for.
