A nicely built shoe
A nicely built shoe; comfortable right out of the box, but a bit to long for me. The width for my narrow foot was great, so they do seem to run a little narrow. The sole seems a bit softer than the Renegade II GTX, and that suits me just fine as I like to have some feed back from the surface.

These shoes where too small and the quality is comparable to a 90.00 pair of shoes not 180.00

This is my 3rd purchase of Lowa Renegade Hiking shoes ...
This is my 3rd purchase of Lowa Renegade Hiking shoes. I always buy waterproof hiking shoes and these are by far the most durable long lasting shoe I’ve found by far among other brands. My previous Lowa purchases were the Renegade II. The newer Renegade III is a bit narrower and runs a half size smaller for me (I needed an 11.5 for the newer Renegade III versus an 11 in the Renegade II version). My first pair is still waterproof after many years of abuse in winter and mud despite receiving no special leather care. However, I’ve found that using Obenauf’s Leather preservative before using them goes a long way to preserve the appearance and lifetime.

Extremely Comfortable Shoe
First shoe or boot I've bought in years that actually fit my narrow feet. Extremely comfortable all day from day one. By far the most comfortable shoe or boot that I own.Only disappointment is they are Nubuck instead of smooth fine grain leather which I prefer. They do NOT have Vibram soles! But well worth the money for comfort alone-- as long as they hold up well. Only time and MILES will tell...would have given them five stars if uppers were smooth oiled leather and they had Vibram soles.

really wanted to love these shoes
I really, really wanted to love these shoes. They are made incredibly well and feel solid and well constructed. I'm not going to disparage hard working Chinese or Vietnamese workers who make a lot of the shoes we Americans buy, but you can tell that the folks that manufacture these shoes know what they're doing. These are also very nice looking shoes (I bought the brown color).Unfortunately, that's where my praise ends. These Renegade III's just aren't comfortable. They're incredibly stiff, narrow (even for someone like me with average width feet), and painful to wear. Perhaps they have a long, long (and punishing) break in period, but honestly for the price and the amount of discomfort I experienced I decided to return them. I even tried a pair of the Renegade II's, and experienced similar problems. Here's what I experienced for these Renegade III's: my left foot and especially the toebox was somehow more narrow than the right. I experienced several hot spots in this area especially around my little toe. The right shoe had fewer hot spots but still was uncomfortable. The first day I tried these on and wore them for 3-4 hours I was constantly aware that my feet were in shoes, and those shoes were hurting my feet. I was glad to take them off at the end of this first wear. The next day, I had what felt like the beginnings of blisters and rub points on both feet, but decided to try wearing the shoes for at least 2-3 hours. I took them off after 30 minutes due to the level of discomfort. My guess is that the shoes are so stiff and thick, and the soles are so unforgiving that it it causes these shoes to have a very long break in period.

ATV for your Feet
I would call these an 'athletic fit'; yes, they are fitted in the toe box, but this is good when walking down steep surfaces as one's foot doesn't slide. The sole is contoured in the front for walking; they roll with the terrain, as opposed to just bending. I always replace foot beds as my arch tends to collapse and any shoe. These shoes with my custom foot beds are the most comfortable shoes I own on all surfaces. Oh, and they have very good traction on wet, snowy, and loose surfaces

Five Stars
The most comfortable hiking shoe I've had. However, the soles on both shoes fell off half way (unglued) in a month. Since then I've been gluing them back every couple of weeks. This never happens with Salomon. I know, it probably would be covered by the warranty, but I live abroad. Besides, I repent buying black: gets dirty easily, attracts all kind of dust, dirt etc.

Very light and comfortable for a trail shoe
Very light and comfortable for a trail shoe, been in the rain several times already and the Goretex does its job. Worn them several days for extensive walking on hard surfaces and they are very comfortable.

du super matériel
Rien à redire, c'est du très bon matériel et ma 3ème paire de Renegade. Il paraît que les III glissent, mais je n'en ai pas encore fait l'expérience. A voir? ^^

super Schuh
Die Schuhe sind wirklich Klasse. Anziehen und gleich ein gutes Gefühl. Wie erwartet ein gutes Lowa Produkt. Man sollte eine halbe Grösse grösser nehmen.
