Nice handleset, easy to install.
Very simple installation, and it looks great! I replaced an old sticky rusty handleset with this one, and it makes a world of difference. The install took about 20 minutes, and just a screwdriver. I was able to re-use the existing holes in my door since the top half fits standard size doorknob openings, and the bottom half had about 2 inches of adjustment to fit the existing hole.My only complaint was that to re-key this lock, they don't sell the tumbler sets at most hardware stores anymore, and don't have the "programmable" tumblers like some other brands do. The re-key kits are available on Amazon, however. Re-keying it took about 5 minutes.

I'd give it a better rating, but the box had been previously opened and had a faulty latch. I used my existing latch which was from the same brand and luckily was a fit. quality control when this item was returned previously should have been better.

3 Is Not The Magic Number
I didn't buy this through Amazon, I bought it at the big orange store. I exchanged 3 of these and gave up, all with the same problems, some other reviewers commented about the same flaws. But first I want to mention that the issues I'm about to mention are with the round knob combo, I don't know if the other oval or lever knob combo suffers the same fate. The first issue is with the deadbolt, 2 of them had tumbler issues (parts that "feels" the key inside) and refused to turn the deadbolt after a few tests, perfect for locking yourself out. Unfortunately, I solved this problem by having to buy a Schlage brass "commercial" deadbolt which is slightly larger than what came in the original kit and mounted it on top of the decorative plate that came with the original kit. It looks a bit oversized on the kit, but it's still tasteful and it works! The second common issue is in the handle itself, all 3 of mine had this issue. If you close the door like a normal human, you are at risk of locking yourself out of your home because the handle knob and lever become disabled. You must close the door with that of a pillow's touch. When the door malfunctions, the thumb lever "drops" all the way down like it snapped off with no spring-back, and just loosely free floats there. The inside round knob turns with normal resistance but it won't unlatch the door. Every time this happens you must get back inside your house and unscrew the round knob off the door, disassemble and reassemble the door handle, and it temporarily resets until it happens again. I think what happens is the internal mechanism is so poorly made that the knob/handle pops out or skips inside of the connecting point groove which pulls back the door latch to open the door.

defective, defective, defective
The first one of these failed after 2 years -- neither the outside handle nor the inside knob was able to completely retract the latch. Lowes replaced the handle set and the same thing happened after two days. I had noticed a little binding in the latch movement (last 3/16") before I installed it, but hoped it wouldn't matter. Went back again and got another one. Now this one I'm not even going to bother installing, because the square spindle that come out of the outside handle does not even turn when you press down on the handle! I will never buy anything from Schlage again, this is totally pathetic.
