Manual of Perioperative Care in Adult Cardiac Surgery

I am an RN working in CVR. Caring for fresh post op heart and vascular surgical pts. I have been out of the field for some years and needed a good reference book. THIS IS IT! This book is a smaller paperback which I like. It covers all cv surgical procedures and po op care. The charts and graphs are very helpful. I keep this book in m tote bag and pull it out when at work. Great for quick reference or late night study. A must have for any cardiovascular surgical nurse. Can't be more pleased with this purchase. Well worth the money!

This book has valuable information. I kept looking for a reference that covered post-operative care for these types of patients and this fit the bill. It’s on the older side of things, but the information is still relevant.

Well written. Can tell it's written by a surgeon, easy to read with book 1/2 surgical and 1/2 medicine. The medicine is a little dated, but this is what they do in the unit. Helps me as a ccm fellow know where they are coming from. Still can't change their mind about the dopamine though . And yes dopamine recommended in the book. Bizarre

If you are in any way involved with cardiac surgery patients (Physician, Anesthetist, nurse practitioner, PA, nurse, fellow, resident, RT) this book will help you immensely in explaining WHY do we do certain things, WHAT takes precedence (vasoactive drugs, interventions, etc), and HOW to care for CV and CT patients. Very good charts and diagrams throughout the book.

As a cardiac surgeon, this book has been indispensable in the care of my postop patients. I have been recommending it for 30 years to all my residents and medical students.

As a new nurse in the Cardiac ICU I read through this book and it really helped clarify and shape my practice. Even 3 years later I still reference this book frequently and have shared it with many of my colleagues. I highly recommend this book.

Excellent cardiovascular reference book. Latest edition is no exception. Easy to look things up for a quick refresher or as a read to those new to the field. Personally, feel a must read for the bedside nurse in CVICU/ITU.

As an ODP new to cardiac this book is great... Its written in English and not jargon. It covers everything from heart disease to management post op.
