Terrific gift
Kids love this game. So will adults, teens, grouchy old ****s, even dogs (maybe). It will make a great birthday present for any kid 7 & up. It's 10 bucks, so you can buy 3, put 'em away, and be ready for the next kid's party you're invited to, or for a last minute Xmas gift out of your closet. Parents will appreciate it for their kid more than some board game (lost pieces/interest) or dopey doll-- it's portable, mildly addictive, educational, and fun. It's a neat gift for adults too; simple to operate and *incredibly* accurate, tough to beat. I like the snide attitude it shows: "You can't beat me!" Give it a try at [...] (I just tried "Vole"; it got it in 18!) 5 stars!

What's the point of this other than for the inventor to show off?
Not as engaging for repeat play as we'd hoped.Head about this highly recommended at an informatics symposium. My main issue with this toy is that it trains kids to unquestionably answer questions in a rigid manner with little reward. Yes, there is genius in it AI sometimes figuring out what you have in mind, but really, what's a win in this game? When you play perfectly by answering its questions with unfailing accuracy... it guesses correctly! In the traditional 20 questions that counts more like a loss in our family. Throw in a lie, either intentionally or accidentally and the thing basically walks into a wall....And the interface is horrible and dated. Is there an App version of this that can be played socially?

Doesn't work, won't turn on Do not buy if you expect it to function
I tried to turn as It was a gift. It would not turn on. The seller said it needed batteries. It is a gift so I didn't want to take it out of the package. If you spend nearly $60 you expect a toy should work- right??

Very poor performance
This is a newer version of an older model that had a much better algorithm and amazed us with its accuracy. This version is lucky to make a correct guess after 30 questions.... and not with difficult challenges. I intended to give it as a gift, but I'd be embarrassed. I lost my old model and it probably is only on eBay.

Endless fun for kids and adults!
20Q is great fun! A friend brought one into work, and we had a blast with it. It was great to watch educated professionals be absolutely amazed at the way they could be beaten by the game! At first they thought it was just a kid's toy, but soon found themselves trying new ways to challenge and outsmart 20Q.How does it really work? I don't know, and I'm happy just trying to figure it out. For just a few dollars you can have a wonderful time playing on your own or with a group. This is a must-buy for the gadget-lover in your life. Very highly recommended.

20 Questions
I made my original purchase for "Toys for Tots" after seeing one. I thought it would be a good general gift. I normally do 10 gifts and this year it was 10 of the 20 questions!! I have since purchased more for family gifts and have found it necessary to keep one for myself. It is one of those toys that anyone can enjoy. Always puts a smile on your face. It is really interesting to watch a kid try to stump it and not be able to - makes you wonder what actually makes it "tick." Great thing for traveling to keep hands and minds busy - and quiet.

Disappointed
It's a game of 20 questions... we have two and both of issues with the LCD display being worn out in parts. We received them as gifts, so we can't return them. I tried to have it guess two things I was thinking about, but it didn't have a clue. I'd have preferred it to be able to guess something simple... rather than say "you win" at each game.

How does it know!
I guess given 20 questions and a binary algorithm, you can pretty much narrow down anything to a small set. I wish it would let you add your own question/answer if it can't guess though. This game is like a very old computer game I played in the mid-70s called "Animal", where it guessed your animal by asking yes/no questions, but you would add a new question and answer at the end if it didn't guess.
