This is a bit pricy for what you get, but it works perfectly and their customer service is a real person who knows something about plating. I support the product and I support the company.

Complete junk
Very weak operation. Fro chrome plating, it just discolors things, not even close to the shine of chrome. Wrong advertising, cumbersome, slow and not worth the money.

Works well.
I must say I was skeptical. but within 3 minutes opening the box, I was plating away! Get this kit. Worth every cent!

works great
I had some bezels chrome plated at my local plater. Before installing them some of the plating started to flake off. A real bummer. Rather than have him take them for another three weeks, I decided to try the Caswell Plating system.... I was highly surprised. Took me only a few minutes, and I can't even tell where the damage was, or where the existing plating ends and the Caswell plating started. Thanks for such a great product.

A good solution for the patient & meticulous
I just bought my second set (misplaced my first set). I have used this to plate many small bicycle parts, such as (a) Campagnolo Brake Barrel Adjusters, (b) GB Stem bols (m8 x 1.00 x 15mm, cut-down to size), (c) dime-sized rusty areas on the lugs and seatstay on a 1974 Raleigh International bicycle. This set is very good if you have at most 3 square inches to plate. Always, always, always, surface preparation will determine your outcome. Your metal must shine like a mirror before you start to plate. You will need 240, 400, 800, 1500, 3000-grit sandpaper to get it there. Then, you will need to brush the surface for a long time, perhaps 3 x 10 min runs, with some light polishing with metal polish in between layers. In the end (on the Raleigh bicycle, which has hexavalent chrome), it produced a very very faintly "pink" chrome. I had to put the bike under a bright flourescent light and from 6 inches away, if I knew exactly where to look, I could detect the "warm color chrome". The replated dime-sized spots have held up very well these last 10 years and have not rusted again. This time I am buying the set to replate some bicycle QR skewer parts. Since chrome at a chrome shop costs $10-$25 PER PIECE, you can see that a 3-part bicycle QR skewer (2 end nuts + paddle) could single handedly pay for this kit. If your parts are super rusty you can strip the rust by dipping them in muriatic acid and configuring the chrome solution in a small cup to keep them out of an oxygen environment while they are being rechromed. Instructions on how to set up this kit for cup-sized plating are elsewhere on the internet.

Not a fan
Was trying to use this on a old motorcycle rim to touch up but did not work for me at all.

Does what it says.
I'm pleased. I used to replate steel bits to an old tool box my son and I are restoring. It applies a thin chrome like film coating. I made some plated pennies for fun to see it really work. The contrast with thte copper was easier to see than with the polished steel parts.
