The CityBuilder Corner SUPERMART Cardboard Model Making Kit - O Scale Model Railroad Building

I build a lot of crafts. This piece came out very nicely. It is made of heavy cardboard, pre-scored, and pre-cut in many areas. The instructions are clear and filled with photos. It is large but will fit under the tree this Christmas and looks really good. Great workmanship!

Made by "Sam Toys" from their City Builder Store" line, and manufactured in Mumbai (Bombay) India. As a wargamer and miniature model railroader, I am accustomed to cardboard layout items. They can easily be reinforced with poster board, or balsa and some white glue. Even reinforced with more cardboard if needed. Heck, I have scratch built buildings from well over 25 years ago made from recycled cracker and cereal boxes that still stand with no issues. Most of my buildings do double duty for the layout and wargaming in 28-32mm. I can easily get away with 25mm as well.That being said, this kit comes printed in top notch vibrant colors. It looks extremely realistic, and modern. Weathering or adding more grimy details shouldn't be an issues with acrylic markers or paint. Just dilute and paint in thin coats. Adding fake grass / moss should work as well. All the pieces are already cut out, requiring only a small cut to remove them from the templates. Instructions are color, and written in clear proper English. All of the cardboard seems to be processed with some strong adhesive / bonding agent, because even after popping some of the pieces out, I noticed the cardboard isn't flimsy, but yet very stiff for how thick it is, which isn't much. A clear plastic sheet is included which is printed on to be used as windows. A straight edge will be required to get the windows out.Kit only requires a sharp blade, metal ruler with nonslip backing and maybe some tape to hold something in place (like the windows) temporarily, and non toxic white glue. water based markers or colored pencils are highly recommended to color in the showing brown cardboard edges and add other minor details if needed.Comes well packed, and manufactured to a high standard.For the price, I found the building to be a steal. It is sturdy, pre-printed (yeah! no painting needed!) and almost ready to go required only a small portion of time compared to plastic and wood kits that are fiddly.Easily going to order the row house, and apartment building, when time permits.

I didn't realize until I received the item that it was made of cardboard. If I had known that this item was made of cardboard, I would not have ordered it. Instructions were confusing. I wish I could get a refund, but I know that is not possible. I just soon throw it away and take the loss as a lesson learned.

I have built many buildings for scale model train sets. This is a cardboard model, as many train layout buildings are. However, the material is super strong and you would not be able to tell what material it is when it is built and placed on a layout.The details are excellent and the directions could not be more clearly written. I will order more of this brand for sure!!!

I have purchased 4 of "CITYBUILDERS" products and they are great. I found it fairly easy to put together but you have to take your time. I found it better to use loctite superglue but you have to get it right first time. When they are built they look just like the picture. I am really pleased with the end result. GREAT PRODUCT, GREAT PRICE, GREAT SERVICE.
