Great item with two exceptions
Let me first say that I did a ton of research on rooftop cargo bags and ended up choosing this one. The primary purpose of this bag for me is to secure it to a bed rack I made for my pick up truck. It would stow my gear for when I go 4-wheeling and camping.Requirements I need: It needs to be 38x38" and sit below my cab's roof line to eliminate drag. Check. It needs to be absolutely 100% weatherproof and waterproof as it would contain my tent, clothing, sleeping bags, etc... vital gear that needs to remain dry. Check. Here's the bummer... the zipper is so cheap. Everything else on this product is of pretty good quality considering the price point, but as soon as I took it out of the bag and gave it a once-over I knew the zippers were the absolute cheapest you could possibly use. Sure enough, the second time I zipped the bag up with gear, the zipper broke (the teeth separated behind the zipper pull when they were supposed to be fastened shut). Good thing there are two zipper pulls which allowed me to zip it shut with the exception of the last 1/2" or so.Another slight bummer is the fact that the zipper only spans two sides of the square. Basically you can only unzip one corner which makes it unnecessarily awkward to (un)load gear in and out of the bag. I understand trying to minimize the amount of zipper so it's easier to keep weather/waterproof, but it really is a slight nuisance when loading/unloading.But it's not all bad... I read reviews on many products specifically looking to see how water/weatherproof the bags are, and I know you have to take everything with a grain of salt because I don't know if reviewers are exaggerating or not. But here, I promise you this is not hyperbole:I just spent two days and one night 4-wheeling and camping. Yesterday it rained on and off for about 2 hours. Just normal rain. Everything was total fine and dry on the inside. Today, driving out on the trail (slow rock crawling for 4 hours) it rained pretty hard off and on. Then I got off the trail and headed down the mountains and when I got into town it was a full on torrential downpour. Horizontal sheeting rain... couldn't see 10 feet in front of me kind of rain. I was anxious to get home and into the garage to see how all the gear held up. At this point if it was soaked it wouldn't matter other than drying it out. Not a single drop of water was in the cargo bag whatsoever. Everything was bone dry.So I have a dilemma now. Do I send this back and get a new one knowing the zippers are absolutely worthless and will more than likely break again in the very near future. Or do I bring this to a guy in town who is known for repairing and upgrading mountain gear? Because I really like this bag and if I can remedy the zipper situation this is easily a 4.5 star item.Pros:100% completely weather/waterproof. The flap that covers the zipper is more than enough to keep the weather out.Simple, no frills and no unnecessary/excessive design components that usually backfire.Price point.Cons:Incredibly cheap and pretty much worthless zipperOnly two sides of the square unzip making it a bit awkward to load and unload gear.

Zipper
4 out of 5 stars - Overall quality good but difficult to load and unload items with the zipper running across the top of the bag. A 3/4 zipper running along the side as in other car top bags would have been better. Have not used this bag in rainy weather not confident how well the top zipper will hold out water even though it has a sewn in flap.

Outstanding bag! Roomy, durable, even through Carolina rain stroms!
Outstanding bag. We purchased this bag to go along with our rear hitch cargo carrier. We were leaving for OBX, a 7-8 hour drive for us, and the weather forecast called for rain. Amazon delivered it right away. I just opened the bag on the carrier and started loading our stuff. I packed 2 large adult suitcases, a large Rubbermaid tote, 2 duffel bags, and my daughter's Barbie suitcase. And there was still room around the sides and on the top! So I threw in there 2 youth sized life jackets, 2 Razor scooters (folded of course), 2 pool noodles, a badminton set, our softball gloves and a bunch of towels. There was plenty of room! The zipper was very durable and the weatherproof flap folded nicely over the zipper. I strapped everything down using the 6 pull-straps which were included with the bag. I am sure they would have done the job, but I always over do things, and I used two ratchet straps as well, along with a few bungies. One can never be too sure on a long drive, especially when the bag is not readily visible while driving. Other people reviewed this bag with less than 5 stars, and I think most of that is user error. You can't jam pack the bag with items that have sharp corners that poke along the sides. And the zipper won't work right if you have to sit of the bag to help close it. Use your heads people. This bag was excellent!!!! It rained the entire 8 hour drive and our things were completely dry. I would highly recommend this bag to use with your cargo carrier. Just be smart when strapping it down. Make sure the bag is folded nicely under the straps when they are pulled tight to avoid bunching or tearing (the bag is made of thick material so tearing doesn't seem to be a major concern unless you pack/strap it incorrectly.) That is just common sense. If you use ratchet straps, position them so they are tightened over a flat area, not at the corners. It can be done, it worked perfectly. And be sure to tie up the ends of all straps so they don't flap while you are driving, again, common sense but it needs to be said. A strap that flaps against something for 8 hours of highway driving can damage things and also start to fray. My cargo bag made our trip both ways with flying colors and still looks like a million bucks. I would highly recommend this waterproof bag.
