VERY safe lifevest for offshore use
This is a legit Coast Guard approved bulky life vest that will keep your head upright if you get thrown into the water unconscious. It is not pretty, it is not super comfortable, but it will save your life in the worst of circumstances. It’s very similar to the ones I wore in the navy.I prefer to live through a boating accident if I can so I’m not interested in a inflatable, comfortable ski vest or something that only works as a slight helper to keep you afloat. I wanted the safest vest I could find and this one fits that bill. You’re not going to be able to do gymnastics in it and it is going to limit your movement a little bit but if you want to keep that family member as safe as they can possibly be, I would recommend this vest.

Offshore Type I - USCG Approved
These are the real deal - highly buoyant, offshore lifejackets that are Type I approved by the US Coast Guard.This is what you want for offshore waters. But, these are not comfortable vests. Like all Type I vests, they are bulky. The foam flotation is in stacks of thin sheets, so it flexes around you.If you want an offshore vest, this is a perfectly reasonable choice at a decent price.
