The real olive oil
It isn’t fake but the taste of this oil is a bit underwhelming. There is a peppery taste at the back of your throat but none of the herbal taste I normally associate with olive oil. At its price point it pails to competitors. Still, it is good quality, in my case not something I would purchase again.

Worth every penny!
This is an outstanding oil, worth every penny. I'm an amateur chef and while born in the USA, I'm of Italian decent, so I grew up in a house where olive oil was used in copious amounts. I typically by e.v.o.o. on the budget end of the spectrum. My local market sells its own label for about 4 bucks a pint and it's actually not too bad, there's just nothing special about it.I saw this Arbequina on a cooking show on PBS and they raved about it, so I thought I'd splurge for once. I was amazed. The subtle yet complex flavors that my old brand lacked were eye-opening. It also coats the salad leaves so much better when making a dressing. Imagine painting a house with cheap paint, then using a high quality paint that coats evenly and perfectly. Everything clings better instead of making a watery puddle in the bowl.I didn't have the date issues others had. I received mine in May 2016 and had a Use By date of Feb 2018, a good year and a half (but It's already half gone after a month)It's probably a little too costly for most of us to fry with or use for other high-volume cooking chores, but those are times when the budget stuff makes the most sense anyway, because you'll cook away the subtle flavor benefits. Save it for salads or for that final drizzle on roasted veggies or bread to get the most out of it.

GREAT OIL.
LIKE THAT IT IS SOURCED IN CALIFORNIA AS IT SAYS ON THE BOTTLE.California Olive Ranch Olive Oil labeled "DESTINATION" , ON THE OTHER HAND, IS REALLY, REALLY REALLY NOT WORTH THE MONEY -- just plain not good enough -- and above all, "NOT FROM CALIFORNIA" BUT RATHER FROM "California, Argentina, Chile, and Portugal. If a supplier sends you oil marked "Destination" my advice is "SEND IT BACK IMMEDIATELY." The last two bottles that I ordered -- one a 750ml bottle, the other a 1L bottle, and my recollection is that each was from a different vendor, were both marked Destination. I don't like this Destination olive oil well enough to use it on my favorite salad (organic Romaine lettuce, grated Sheep Milk Romano, and Balsamic vinegar or lemon juice, which my girlfriend and I eat almost every night, so I think I will try to return them both. "Grown globally, crafted in California" does not inspire in me any confidence whatsoever that I will like the produce. I have switched over to Lindsay Olive Oil, which I can find at the local Publix supermarket and on Amazon. It seems a worthwhile product. The Destination Series is not worth a nickel.

Fave California sourced olive oil
It's not always easy to find California sourced olive oils, as many seem to be Mediterranean sourced. The arbequina type is my favorite and arbosana is also very good. I use it uncooked & unheated on salads or as a healthy flavorful drizzle on almost anything.... Noodle dishes, Avocado toast, Buddha bowls, roasted veg, everything! Sometimes I'll even pour some in a dish and just dip my finger in, it it's so yummy. I recommend!
