Great alternative
Our kids absolutely hate the feel of bucks vapor rub on any part of their body. I purchased this over a year ago to try the next time cold/congestion hit our household and then I promptly forgot about it. As our son was wiggling and complaining about getting the rub on him I remembered buying. We have had it plugged in each night for the last 4 nights. It does the trick. The entire room is filled with the vapor scent. By morning it had dissipated. I’m not sure how long it actually lasts but I know that I’ve checked in the middle of the night and at least 5 hours later I could still smell it. I just ordered a few packs of the refills to make sure we have on hand when the next crud comes knocking.

You get what you paid for.
The scent lasts for like 10 mins and that's it. Purchased two for my boys room and they're both the same. You live and you learn.

Somewhat compatible with Vick's pads
I bought this one because I'm tired of the poor quality of the Vick's one. I lost count of how many we went through from Vick's. I wanted to tey something else.First impression, this should definitely last longer than the one from Vick's because it doesn't have any plastic moving parts inside (these parts are the ones that always end up failing for us.) That's basically the only advantage I see for this particular device. Now the cons. We were not able to use the pads that came with it. They are incredibly strong and it triggered my autistic child's sensory disorder. And even if your child is not that sensitive to smells and scents, if the room is on th small side, it could be too strong and overpoweringThe second problem, it is too tight for Vick's Vapopads. See my pictures. You're lucky if you can get them inside without damaging them and it's even worse to get them out. I have to push with screwdrivers or pull with tweezers to get them out. Pushing the used pad with a new one not always works. At least with the Vick's brand.Third con, there's only one warm setting. Actually, there's none. If you are used to the Vick's one, you can regulate how much scent you want to come out. This one does not have that. So it warms up and you're stuck with whichever temperature this reaches. With the Vick's, I can regulate it and it will last more or fewer hours depending on whether it is warm or hot. With this one, the pads lose the scent much faster than if set up at the lowest temperature of Vick's vaporizer.Another con when compared with Vick's, you cannot rotate the prongs for the outlet. The last con for some (I honestly don't care one way or the other) it does not have a night light. The only reason why I like the night light is because I get a visual confirmation that it is working before I can smell the scents. With this one, I have to wait for it to warm up to fully realize that it is in facr working.Would I recommend it? I don't know. I think I will eventually go back to Vick's but only if they improve their quality. But if you can live with the lads getting a bit damage, and you don't mind them lasting fewer hours than with the lowest setting from Vick's, then yes. It is far sturdier.

Came in handy
Absolutely loved this. It was perfect for my sick toddler. It works right away and smells up a decent sized room. It was really easy to use.
