Better than IKEA.
Can't fault the product. It was packaged extremely well and it has considerable weight. The screw driver that's included is a nice touch, and if you have other screw driver heads and the hexagon shaft the grippy handle of the screw driver means you're going to be using for other jobs, (because it's a decent bit of kit.)I read a few reviews about building the unit and I truly enjoyed following the instructions and putting it together. The simplicity of the hinges for the doors and the sprung magnetic keeper's are a stroke of genius..Very stylish and sturdy. Very appealing to the eye. 100% Happy

Great bookcase at a great price
Great piece of furniture for the price. It’s always difficult buying online without having seen the product in person, but I took a chance after reading the reviews and am glad I did. This is a sturdy bookcase that went together really easily. I found the instructions reasonably clear and straightforward, and there were no missing pieces or screw holes that didn’t line up.All in all, very happy with this item and would recommend.

Excellent value, clear instructions, good packaging...
This is the 4th VASAGLE item I ended up buying from Songmics and I am generally rather happy with these purchases. After all the negative experiences I have encountered ordering items from IKEA, this is a breath of fresh air.Pros:> The items come really well packaged, with loads of polystyrene protective sheets and blocks to protect the furniture during transport (looking at you there IKEA)> The instructions are clear with all the parts, screws, etc being clearly labelled. Screws are organised in numbered bags, and you often get a spare (which is much appreciated)> Once assembled, it does look the part.> Customer services is really responsive.Cons:> Even though everything was very well packaged, the powder coated metal bits did show some damage. However the seller (Songmics Home UK) offered to send out spare parts.> DO NOT follow the order of assembly as to the backing "board". Leave this for last and don't screw everything to its tightest at once. Since you can't tweak the doors you will however be able to slightly pull the entire bookcase shelving unit at a minimal angle for the doors to align perfectly by screwing the backing board in while the doors are perfectly aligned. You might need a hand to achieve the best results. I actually did the same with a storage cabinet from VASAGLE.I think this item deserves 4.5 stars rather than 4, but it wasn't perfect so I felt I couldn't give 5 stars. Overall this is a great item though and customer service is excellent.

Vasagle Bookshelf Unit in Toasted Oak Colour - impressive and with plenty of room
I might be getting a bit old now for crawling around the floor putting together heavy pieces of flat pack furniture but I do enjoy it. And I enjoy it even more when the item I am assembling has been manufactured perfectly, as this one is.I was lucky to order the toasted oak colour, which is rather lighter than the usual rustic brown, and I am so glad I did because the lighter colour works perfectly in my room. I have several items of furniture in the "industrial" style with the black metal sides and legs and have to say they look impressive - rather better than just a plain wooden side.As with all flat pack items, this was delivered tightly packaged in a stout cardboard box with everything neatly inside, and lots of polystyrene to protect the pieces in transit. There is a very large collection of screws and bolts that look a bit disconcerting to start with but since most are the same it is easy to keep track. The instruction leaflet was perfect, almost everything in pictures that were large and very clear. In addition, there is a double sided screwdriver (flat head and cross head) with a solid handle.Assembly - starting from the bottom, you make the lower cupboard section first. I will rate very highly the fact the back panel had pre-drilled holes ready for screws. This was perfect and so much better than some products that just give a shiny back panel and a pile of nails. Screws are stronger and easier. However, point to note - only the back panel has pre-drilled holes, there are no pre-drilled holes in the base unit so your screw will make the holes (it is self-tapping). These screws are not large so if you have a magnetic screwdriver it will help a lot and I found it easier to use one of my own screwdrivers with a smaller head for these cross head screws. In addition, before trying to put a screw in, I used a gimlet (little tool, available from Amazon, worth their weight in gold) with a slim head to twist around and make a start hole for the screw. This made assembling the back panel really easy. From then on it is adding the panels that make the "bookcase" section, right up to the top. Each section is clearly labelled so you can't go wrong, and they are all fixed using very long bolts - which were simple to put in because there are pre-drilled holes for these. I chose not to use an electric screwdriver, and so there was a lot of "screwing", but that is part of the fun of assembling furniture. The final part is assembling the metal side/feet sections and then bolting them onto the unit. Stand it up and the job is done. The final part of the assembly is putting on the two doors. And this was the easiest part of the assembly! Screw on the handles, push the required parts into the top and bottom holes of the doors, carefully put the top one into place, with a finger push up the plastic inner section of the bottom piece and slide it into place. Two doors fitted perfectly in just a couple of minutes and I found this to be not only impressive but a far better design point than the usual door hinges that can take an age to line up properly. The finished unit looks exactly like the seller's display pictures (hopefully the toasted oak colour will be back for sale soon for other customers) and there is a huge mass of room - far more, in fact, than on the unit I used previously.I did have one small query after assembly that I took up with the seller via the Amazon messaging system and this was dealt with extremely quickly. So full marks here to the seller and for their customer service.I have praised this unit highly and it deserves it. Takes some time putting together but the finished result is perfect. I am so glad I bought this and, because the seller showed such excellent customer service, I would definitely buy from them again.

Thrilled
Having read previous reviews I must say I agree - everything spot on. We ordered two units and assembled them today. Both in our 80s we couldn’t believe how easy it was compared to previous attempts at self assembly from other companies. Units sturdy and a bargain. They look great. Having read review regarding colour we ordered the lighter wood too and it goes well with our industrial style furniture from Next and so much cheaper. So pleased!
