70mm Long Shackle Padlocks for Outdoor Use All Weather Resistant, Alloy Steel Heavy Duty Lock with 4 Keys

This feels like a substantial lock. It is quiet heavy - probably the heaviest padlock I have used.It arrives secured inside a plastic blister shell which needs to be cut open with strong scissors and has 4 keys included.I want this to secure a storage unit I am placing into an area that is accessible to neighbours, so am looking for strong security and feel confident that this will do the job.It is worth noting that once opened, the key cannot be removed until the lock is re-closed. Whist a bit of pain when the key is attached onto a ring with other keys, but at least I wont loose the key.As a precaution against the weather as I have never yet found a metal lock that will not rust outside I will give a good spray with WD40 as this has helped with other locks.I would also suggest before purchasing, do make sure the lock will fit your requirements as the Shackle Diameter is large at 0.4in (10mm) and whilst this is just small enough for one part of the twin locking system on my unit, it is too wide for the other part so I will get the smaller 40mm version which with its reduced Shackle Diameter of 0.3in (8mm will be perfect.

To be fair, we just needed a bigger lock that you could get extra keys cut, but as this lock comes with 4 as standard, problem solved. When the lock arrived I was surprised how robust it was, very solid, it will last for years.

The lock itself is strong and sturdy however I use this lock for a shed outside and we had a spell of bad weather (normal practice here in Scotland) and I was having trouble to lock it, I noticed rust inside the shackle part where it goes into the mechanism. Pretty disappointed with that. So I got out some wd40 and sprayed it and it was working again. Apart from this situation the lock itself is strong and sturdy! I have marked it down for weather proof as I can see rust already after a weeks worth of rain. So far with the the squirt of WD40 it is working well.

The locking mechanism rusted and seized after 6 weeks. I had to cut off with a steel cutting angle grinder, which to my surprise was very easy. So not a high security lock for outdoors.

After just a couple of weeks the ends of the shackle began to rust. The worst thing about this lock is that the key needs to be in the lock to close it. Plus if the key is slightly out of place it is impossible to lock. I am now replacing for a self-locking padl. It is also very heavy and awkward to use.

This is a strong lock and the feature I like most is when you unlock it, the key cannot be removed until you lock the lock again.

I love this lock! It comes with four keys. This is wonderful. I have two keys, and my tenants each have a key. The key will only come out of the lock when the lock is closed. This is a great feature. It ensures that you close the lock, and it helps you to hang onto the key.
