Easy to install and to use.
The instructions tell you what you need to know. There are options as to how it works and they are explained very well. The options menu pops up when you hold both the up and down arrows at the same time for a couple seconds. The 3 side by side buttons aloow stepping through the options. The up and down arrows are for setting an option. To use, you just flip the switch from OFF to HEAT or COOL. The room temperature right now is displayed large and the temp you want is smaller and in the corner. The up and down arrows allow setting the temp you want.Or you can use the 3 side by side buttons to go to a temperature faster with just a single button press. You can set a temperature for HEAT and for COOL on each of these three buttons (any temperatures that you want). For energy savings maybe you would want COOL at 78 75 and 72. HIt the button on the right of the three choices for real cool 72 etc. If everybody is leaving you could hit the left button for 78. Remember these numbers can be anything that you want to set them to.When the slider is in HEAT instead of COOL, another three numbers can be programmed. Maybe for instance 76 72 67. Just hit the button on the right for a not so nice 67 when nobody is home to save money. When you press any of these side by side buttons the target temperature will display in small numbers above the larger current temperature. So you don't have to remember what each button has been programmed to.You don't have to use these side by side buttons if you want to do something else this time. You can instead just put the slider in HEAT or COOL and press the up or down arrow until the smaller temperature displayed above is what you want the temperature to go to now.------------------The only tricky thing for when we installed it ourselves was how to attach the wires. We knew which wire went where because that was explained in the manual very well. Anyway, to attach a wire to a terminal: Hold the tab down with a tiny screwdriver in the little slot and stick the wire in the hole near that tab while continuing to hold the tab down. Then when the wire has been poked in there, just release the tab. And tug a little on the wire to be sure it is held tight. So easy, even a caveman can do it !

Excellent "semi programmable" thermostat
I am very pleased with this thermostat. The display is large and well lighted, therefore easy to read. It displays actual temp and set temp, and can be set to degrees C or F. It has three programmed buttons, "Home," "Sleep," and "Away" so you can hit your desired temperature in one button push. It is easy to modify the temp settings for these buttons. If you decide you want a different sleep temperature, set the temperature, then hold the sleep button for about 5 seconds and it will update the button to the new temperature. And also, the configuration settings are adjustable. That is, you can set the sensitivity to be ~1 degree or ~1.8 degrees. You can modify how many hours trigger the "change filter" warning. There are many settings you can modify to make it what you want. And, when you are done, it is so easy to use and works great.I have read about a "loud clicking noise." You can hear the relay click on, but I wouldn't call it loud. If it is in your bedroom, and you are EXTREMELY sensitive to sound, maybe. If it is in a hallway, like ours, I never hear it.If you don't want a fully programmable thermostat with a "schedule," this one is the best!

Excellent, Simple Solution for Push-Button Temperature Presets
Excellent solution for a simple "home" and "away" thermostat. I installed this in my garage to control a Williams gas wall furnace that has a simple two-wire setup for a thermostat. The old thermostat was an old school resistance-based stat that worked well but his one allows me to set my own "home," i.e., "space occupied" temperature and an "away," i.e., "space unoccupied" temperature. It makes it quick and easy for me to simply press a button to set my pre-programmed temperature when I'm in my garage--then to press another button when I leave to drop the temperature to 45 degrees to keep my pipes from freezing.Pros:-Easy install and can be used on two-wire or multi-wire systems-Easy use with simple buttons and switches-100% customizable temperature presetsCons:-No schedules for calendar-type programming (But is that really a con for how most people want to use it?)I don't have a power wire coming from my furnace so I'm running this on batteries. after a month of use it looks like the batteries will last a long time. This stat is terrific.

Nice Thermostat!!!
It is easy to use. It works fine so far.The only negative part of this thermostat is that it is NOT programmable. The price was unbeatable!! I paid less than $12.00 for this thermostat at Amazon Warehouse Deal.I cannot comment on how easy or difficult the installation was, for we got it installed by an HVAC professional.

Works fine, no problems.
After a few weeks of operation, it seems to be working fine. I like the fact that you can adjust the thermometer readout if it is off by a few degrees, plus there is a "hysteresis" adjustment so that you can adjust how quickly the furnace or A/C will switch on and off once the desired temperature has been reached.Installation is a little tricky since wires have to be connected to the main body of the thermostat (and not to a mounting plate, as is usually done). However, the clamps worked well to hold the wires securely, and it didn't take long to install.I'm not a big fan of overly complicated, WI-FI, auto-everything thermostats. This one fits our needs. We adjust the temp up and down as needed, and the quick "away" setting allows one-button changes to both heat and A/C for periods when we are leaving the house.Recommended.
