Simple and Easy to Instal
Ordered three of these to replace my old Wemo (Belkin) switches to standardize on Alexa across the house. The install took 10 minutes for each switch as all the wiring was done for the Wemos. Bringing them up was a breeze on the Alexa app and the rules are easy when you master the Alexa rule system.

Great Product
I read some negative reviews on this item, and I was a bit surprised at some of the comments. This switch was super easy to install, and as soon as I powered it up, Alexa discovered and configured it. On the electrical side of the install you need to be able to turn off the breaker in the panel, remove the old switch, connect the wires, and screw the switch into the wall box - this is a process that you’ll need to do with any switch. It’s a great product, and it reasonably priced. 5 STARS!

Works Great, Cover smaller than my old 'dumb' switch
I was petrified to try to install this myself, but it was way easier than I'd set myself up for, even though the colors of the wires in my wall didn't match the colors in the instructions. My only issues are that I can't seem to get it to sit tightly flush to the wall and the cover is smaller than my old 'flip it' one so the color of the wall around it is different by about 1/4". I'm sure they make larger covers for the 'paddle' switch but haven't checked yet. I don't use the actual switch hardly at all anymore since Alexa connection works great so it's not really a problem.

Easy to Install and operate
Works flawlessly. Easy to install. It even paired automatically with Alexa. Have to say this switch is pretty darn good. If the instructions look overwhelming at first there's a myriad of very simple videos you can watch that take you through which wires do what. You don't have to know anything about residential electrical wiring to get it to work. Nice product hope it lasts a long time.

Read the right reviews!!!??? High failure rate! Software is buggy! Written by a commitee!
3/15/2024 update.Have 7 one way genuine Amazon Basics Alexa/Echo switches in the house. Have replaced 3, going to replace the fourth. The 66+% failure rate dramatically increases the real cost of ownership. This with the buggy Echo Alexa software turning lights on at random makes it a pain. Definitely a software problem, not hardware as it happens across multiple brands of swiitches. The only common denominator is the app/software.***********************************The reviews here are mixed.....literally! As with all Amazon reviews where the seller is selling completely different items under the same listing, the reviews for different items are homogenized together. This creates wrong or misleading reviews. To add to the confusion single pole and 3 way switches are completely different animals. These should be sold separately to avoid the mess that the reviews are on these two completely different items. And yes you can have more than a 3 way installation. That said, I purchased, and am only reviewing the single pole version of this switch. That is, there is only a single switch that controls a single outlet, light, or group of lights. If there are any other switches that control or affect that single outlet, light, or group of lights YOU BOUGHT THE WRONG SWITCH! If you don't know what a Nuetral wire is, ask someone to help you before you purchase. Do not pass GO, do not collect $200!!If you purchase 3 or less of these switches Amazon will add them automatically to your Echo/Alexa account and save you a lot of time and effort (highly recommended)! For some reason If you purchase 4 or more, you are on your own. I would recommend that if you are buying 4 or more, break it into multiple orders and save yourself some time and hassle and let Amazon do the programming work.Connecting is easy. HOWEVER YOU CAN BE KILLED! White to White, Green to Green (or bare copper). Black to the wire with electricity on it (the "hot" wire, LINE side), and Red to the LOAD (single outlet, single light, or group of lights). Use the enclosed labels so if someone needs to rewire in the future they will know what is what.Works as advertised, NO DRAMA! DRAMA IS AVAILABLE if you buy the wrong switch for your application. Please figure out if you have the wrong switch before leaving a review. Most of the "bad" reviews appear to be due to purchasing the wrong switch, which is partially the sellers fault for combining listing. This is a review, not a tutorial. I neither received nor asked for incentives of any kind for this review. Update: For full honesty, I had to exchange 1 unit out of 7 purchased. The wireless connection between the switch and my Echo units became unreliable. I believe a nearby Nest thermostat or SimpliSafe touchpad may have been interfering, but another switch 36 inches away did not have a problem. Replacing the switch did correct the problem. As more IOT devices are installed this may become a bigger problem.***************************************I neither received nor solicited recompense in any form for this review. I am a retired computer/network/telephone repair technician with more than 35 years experience. I have taught all these subjects at my employers in-house trade schools in addition to my field experience. Currently I repair/restore guitars and guitar amplifiers to support my guitar collecting habit. As such I perform electronics repair as well as some woodworking involved in repairing guitars an amplifier cabinets. I attempt to repair most items if they fail out of warranty, so my reviews may contain information you will not not find in other reviews. Solicitations to change or "enhance" reviews are always reported to Amazon without exception. Free items or money are joyfully accepted, THEN IMMEDIATELY REPORTED TO AMAZON!! THANK YOU!!!! The observations are my own without any outside influence or input. Your experience may differ from my own! Do your own research and comparisons prior to purchasing, don't rely solely on my observations. I recommend purchasing only from Prime sellers as much of my experience with "marketplace" sellers has been negative. Often drop shipping from China to the USA, and reshipping so it has a USA postmark. That said, do your own research prior to purchasing any products from the Internet!?
