Q: What colours are in this kit? Need to be able to do shading so would need light and dark shade of each colour included (a light and a dark blue etc)

I have just received a brand new box as my daughter took my last box so re- ordered I would say there is only one colour of each one ,ie 1 red ,1 blue ,white and black the pink has a bright pink and a more fleshy pink ,the green has 3 shades of green but would say all the rest is just 1 shade,hope this helps .

Hi SusanYes the beads are opaque except for the holes in the centre obviously, and in this box they come in 8 gaudy kid colours plus black & white.Monica

There are actually 3 sizes of Hama beads. The smallest is the mini bead which is 2.5mm diameter. These will allow for finer detail and shading in the finished design and are aimed at older children (age10+) or adults.The largest is the maxi bead which is 10mm in diameter. These are aimed at younger pre-school children (age 3-4) who are still developing their fine motor skills.The midi bead is 5mm in diameter and is the size most commonly used by children aged 5+ and adults alike. They are the ones generally found in the shops, although beads and boards appear from time to time on eBay. I've come across the occasional maxi beads and boards but I've never seen the mini beads or boards listed.The positioning of the pegs or 'spikes' on the boards will vary with the size of the bead used as it has to accommodate the different sized centre holes. If you particularly want the mini or maxi beads with the appropriate boards I would recommend you think about ordering direct from the Hama Bead website as tracking them down elsewhere is very time consuming. They also have a huge selection of specials, such as glitter, neon, translucent, glow in the dark, etc. plus bags of single colours. Before you ask, No, I don't work for Hama Beads. I'm just a Grandma with a laptop itching to be used and a bit too much time on her hands some days!Hope this helps.

Q: Does it come with the ironable paper?

Hi Mary,No there are only beads in this size box, however any paper that can be ironed will do, we use ordinary greaseproof paper.Monica
