Highly recommend
Very simple design. This works fantastic for inserting scleral lenses. It holds the plunger freeing up both hands. Easy to clean.

Helpful for inserting scleral lens
I was diagnosed with Keratoconus and I use a scleral lens to improve my vision. I had a hard time at the doctor’s office inserting it with the tripod method. I then tried the method where you hold the inserter tool with the lens in one hand while trying to hold your eye lids with your other hand. My lids were drooping and my doc was very patient thank goodness. She could tell I was discouraged and showed me a method I used until I found this stand. She took a cup and punctured the bottom and then stuck the inserter on it with the lens. While that was absolutely genius….. I didn’t have a fixation target. It’s also inconvenient to take a cup around especially to insert your lens again if you have to take it out. I started my research and stumbled upon this by accident because I was ordering the inserter and plunger removal tools. This stand is fantastic!!!! It collapses so it’s easy to travel with and it’s clear so it allows you to look through the plunger while it holds the lens for you! This then allows you to look through the hole on the bottom of the plunger (that you cut off with scissors). If you use a light (I purchased pupil light pen on Amazon. This will also help you see if you have a bubble in your lens.) I lay the pen flat up against the stand and this allows the light to shine through the stand. This helps create a fixation target. You can focus on that while inserting the lens with both hands (one hand holding you upper lid and the other holding your lower lid) and SEE WHAT YOU ARE DOING. This really has saved me!! I’m a new scleral lens user (1 week) and I’m so happy I started to do research.I know this review is lengthy but I hope it provides you with help and hope so you don’t feel defeated like I did! Totally get this and get the light too!!

Best solution for sclerals
I have the misfortune of suffering from movement disorders affecting my fine motor coordinator and post lasik ectasia. I've tried everything from the scleral ring applicator from the dry eye shop dot com (highly recommend this online shop) to the $150 see-green system light and stand to help me insert my sclerals with my dystonic and shaky hands. I purchased this one to keep in my car in case I need this on the road. I tried this and I actually prefer this to the $150 system! I have a tiny bathroom, and I have to put a cafeteria tray ($3 on Amazon ) over my bathroom sink to give me a surface to insert and remove my sclerals. I cover the tray with a microfiber cloth and place the stand on it. I prefer this $13 system over the see-green system because the stand is taller and I don't have to bend down as far. I find that I can still see through the hole in the plunge without a light. I'm just careful to gently push my face down so I don't knock over the stand or poke my eye.

My travel stand for large Scleral len
Works but use for travel and my other stand with better light for home. Keep in car for emergency and travel with a nurse light, compact mirror. Now when out and about I have some peace of mind if my eyes become painful.

Don’t use for insertion
This is a great prep tool for HOLDING your lenses NOT for INSERTING them. This helps hold my DMV (and lens) off the counter, in turn keeping them clean and my hands free especially when I need to open another bottle of liquid or do something else. I use this every day as a prep stand only.I WOULD NOT use for inserting lenses. The stand is hard plastic and even though the DMV is rubber it’s hard to gauge distance/speed and there is potential for damage. I admit I bought for inserting when first learning to insert sclerals and nearly poked my eye out. Not good.Let me suggest some tips that helped me.1. Have extra liquid on hand.-There is a learning curve and it’s normal to try multiple times before getting them in.2. Try a closed vs open DMV.-One may work better for you.3. Try using your other hand,-Try switching hands for insertion instead of using just your dominate hand.4. Watch some videos if you can’t talk to your doctor right away.-Dr Eye Health videos were beneficial for me. He is an eye doctor as well as a contact wearer himself & my eye doc said he was a great resource to use.5. AND BREATHE- It’s not natural to put something in your eye. And there is a bit of “tricking” your mind into doing it. Remember most people don’t do anything well the first time they try. So give yourself a break. You’ll get it :-)

Allows you to use both hands to stretch apertures for insertion of large lenses.
Takes some practice to get the hang of it. Use a penlight or flashlight aimed at base to give you a centering target when leaning over the stand to insert. Have to find the right height surface to place stand on or it is difficult to get the right angle for insertion. The cup does not seem to fit perfectly level within the stand. Overall, works a little better if you have trouble holding apertures open with one hand while manually using the cup with the other.

Absolute must for scleral lenses
I never leave reviews but this stand is fantastic for scleral lens users. I had no idea how I was going to insert my lenses at home (away from the office assistant guiding me) and this stand made it possible. I bought two, one for home and one to keep in my car. I put the stand on a white counter top and can easily see a light to guide me when inserting the lens. There's no need to buy the much more expensive stand with a light built in. Great purchase!
