Product description ------------------- Guinea Pigs LOVE pea flakes which can be fed by hand or scattered around their enclosure to encourage their natural foraging instinct. Pea flakes are a 100% natural and y treat containing vital minerals and amino s including lysine. What are Micronized Pea Flakes? Micronization is the process of cooking and flaking. Whole green peas are cooked under high intensity infrared heat (micronized) which removes all moisture and then rolled to produce a flat flake approximately the size of a 5 pence piece. This process makes the product more easily digestible and therefore more palatable to the animal. The rolling of the peas further gelatinizes the pea flakes which boosts the starch digestibility by 75% compared to non-micronized products. Micronized products have improved tional value when compared to the same feed uncooked. Feeding Instructions: Pea flakes should be fed as a treat (1-2 teaspoons per day) and make up no more than 5% of your pets diet. How to Feed: Pea flakes can be fed in a variety of ways including: Treat – Pea flakes are small enough (about the size of a 5 pence piece) that they can be fed by hand as a treat. Taming and Bonding Tool – Small animals are prey animals which can make them shy and timid. If you have recently bought a small new animal home, you may find they take a while to trust you and build a bond with you. You can use pea flakes to aid this process by offering a pea flake to them. Hold the pea flake out for them in their enclosure and remain quiet and still. The animal will eventually come out to see what’s going on. At first, they may snatch the pea flake and hide to eat it but over time they will learn to trust you and eventually you will be able to stroke your animal without it running away. Foraging – Small animals love to forage; it’s how they would find food in the wild. Hide some pea flakes in their enclosure or amongst their hay. They should be able to small the pea flakes and will have fun searching for them. If your pet has never had pea flakes or have not had this brand before you may find that they won’t eat them at first and this is completely normal. If this happens keep offering the pea flakes as treats and eventually, they will eat them.
