This was my first time ordering unbreakable melemine dishes and I was pleasantly surprised. The speckled blue pattern of these dishes is cute and they don't look cheap. They're easy to wash by hand because they're so lightweight but they also hold up well in the dishwasher. I love them and would recommend them!

Light weight and sturdy. They aren't going to break as easily as my old ceramics and are much easier to handle. Dishwasher safe and easy to clean. Can't really ask for better...

This set is made of melamine, which is a durable, unbreakable material that works well for people who want a set of dishes that they don't have to worry about breaking while dining outdoors. Melamine is not microwave safe because the high temps can result in chemicals leeching out of the melamine and into your food. These are not dishes I would consider safe to use for everyday dining, especially for use with really hot foods - for example, I wouldn't put hot soup in the bowls. Melamine has been around for a long time and is generally safe for occasional use, such as dining out on the patio or using them for a picnic. In this sense, they're better than disposable dishes, since they create less waste, and, if used properly, they're perfectly safe.These dishes have a pleasing design and appear to be well-constructed and I think will last for ages. My grandparents had melamine dishes when my dad was growing up, and they're still in the cupboard and used on occasion, so it's a material that will hold up for many decades. For me, these will be used about a half dozen times in summer when the weather is nice and we want to step out onto the deck and have a meal outside and these are perfect for that.
