Bright, heavy, happy
I got this to brighten up my home office for video calls. It’s simple and streamlined. Good quality and throws a bright light.

plastic shade a problem
This really needs a metal "shade". If used in a computer room the plastic shade allows excessive glare on the computer screen as the two 150 watt eq. bulbs shine through.

Unclear on the concept
The purpose of a torchiere is to bounce light off the ceiling. That's why they don't come with fabric shades like a regular floor lamp. I can't recommend this as a torchiere. I gave it 2 stars because the pole is sturdy and the antique brass is really pretty. BUT, the bowl is a very thin piece of too-translucent flexible plastic. The problem is not that it's plastic, but it's SO thin that when you put in the two 150W LED bulbs, the light comes right at you. You see the bulbs themselves and they glare right in your eyes, right at eye level. Ugly and doesn't serve the purpose of sending the light to the ceiling. I kept it only because I have an opaque metal shade from another failed torchiere that I can use instead of the provided plastic. Or you could use it with a fabric shade. (But if that's what you wanted, you would have ordered a regular floor lamp.) Also, even though I put in LED's marked dimmable, I can't use the lower setting, only the bright setting or the bulbs flicker. Not sure if this is a lamp problem or a bulb problem.
