What a little gem this is!!!
Sweet!! After 20 years I’m finally able to put all of my old 8mm and hi8 videos on thumb drives and make digital copies for storage. This thing works like a charm. I read several unhappy reviews and so I did a little reading on Google before I purchased this device. Google recommended 3.0 or 3.1 name brand thumb drives for best results. So when I ordered this little gem I ordered a dozen San disc 3.0 16 gig thumb drives for a start and to see how everything was going to work. According to google you can fit roughly two hours of 8mm footage on about 2 to 4 gigs of space give or take a little. So I figured 3 or 4 two hour tapes per thumb drive. Then my hi8 tapes are going to require about 28 gigs for a two hour video so I’ll buy the 32 gigabyte thumb drives when I get started on those tapes. According to Google, the key is the high speed name brand thumb drives for best results. And it works perfectly as long as your camera still plays the tapes or you have some other way of playing the tapes on a device that connects to this little gem. I couldn’t be happier. I transferred a video of my grandpa telling me his story of how him and my grandma got married and the things that happened around that time. The video was made in 1992. The video was an hour and 13 minutes. An hour and 15 minutes after I started using this little device I was watching it on my 85” tv via the thumb drive and usb port. And I’m tech illiterate. So if I can get this gem to work, ANYONE can with a little reading and research and just simply following directions. It takes time. I have around 100 + hours of video and you have to sorta monitor this thing. Unless you just do one video per thumb drive. But I’m going to try to be a little more thrifty and squeeze as much as I can into each thumb drive. May later I’ll go back and do some editing. But that’s a review on its own. Getting all of this history stored on a device that can be viewed and preserved was the goal. Mission starting to be accomplished.

This blows me away! 6 Stars if I could!
Absolutely incredible device! Ran across this item on Amazon purely by chance. What a find! We had VHS camcorder videos from over 34 years ago with our young kids back in our Alaska days. Had not seen them since and figured we never would. Along comes this gadget. Wow! Wow! Super easy and straight forward to use. My biggest problem was getting one of several old VCR’s to work, but when I did, it blew my mind! Started copying the videos to USB thumb drives in mp4 format. Smile to then take to computer and transfer to HDD or make more thumb drive copies. Some of the videos brought a tear to my eye! Thank you for a real treasure!Could not be happier with this purchase and proud to give my highest recommendation!

Easy to set up
Great little device for me, where I have been copying my VHS tapes onto 64 GB flash drives. Will be great to get rid of those bulky plastic VHS cassettes. Easy to use. Has various functionality to record off of many different devices through USB, S video, HDMI and the standard red, yellow and white plug wires.

It works, but there's only one problem with it.
Overall: The product works most of the time. It's simple and easy to work with, however, there's only one issue I found. The Setup: I had a portable hard drive connected to the device, and the device was connected to the VCR to record from VHS tapes. I used the 3-color cables and had the display showing the recording so I could monitor the device from a distance as I needed to record dozens of hours of recordings. The problem: Every once in awhile, the screen would freeze up showing a still picture and the audio would continue playing. I attempted to stop recording to save the data, but the device was frozen, even when the 3-color cables are disconnected. I would be forced to disconnect the power cable since the screen continued to remain frozen, and all data from that recording session would be corrupt. Once the session was restarted, the recordings worked as intended. It's a bit of a pain, but luckily this has happened 3 times over 30 sessions of recordings so take it with a grain of salt.

It worked! Worth every penny!
For years, I have been debating whether I should use the online analog-to-digital conversion services for some of my old VHS tapes. But thanks to my anxiety, I couldn't deal with the possibility of losing my original media. So I thought I'd give this a try. I cannot believe it was THIS easy to convert my old VHS video (analog) to digital format. At first, I tried using my old flash drive for data transfer, and it didn't work. I thought maybe I needed a newer USB Flash Drive to try. Then guess what? Problem solved! I was able to convert my old videos into digital format seamlessly! I will be looking for more videos to convert.

Works amazing!
I don't write reviews too often, but felt like I had to write about how amazing this piece of technology was. I needed to transfer some old VHS tapes into a USB flash drive and this thing worked like a charm. It ran for hours non-stop and converted all of my tapes into a digital format. I would highly recommend this product if you are looking for this task to be accomplished.

Works intermittently
The description states "No capacity limitation for the USB drive", however this is not always the case. While transferring longer recordings (say 45 minutes) from a VHS or Hi 8 to a micro SD, the recording does not transfer over to the SD card. The steps were followed, the device reported it was saving though never did after multiple attempts to multiple SD cards. This takes time to manage and adds the greater potential to older tapes failing while being played to record. I will say that shorter recordings tend to save to the SD card. Longer recordings would need to be stopped incrementally to allow the device to actually save the increments to the storage device though this is not an ideal experience.

Manual is a little techie.
This is really good. Copied 30 year old VHS tapes to thumb drive. My only issue is that the quick start instructions are written with very small type. Almost need magnifying glass to read.
