Good Beer on a budget.
Take one bucket of Suma Malt Extract and pour into a 5 gallon fermenting bucket (Rinse tub with boiling water to get all the sticky residue out and add to bucket). Boil 33 grams of freeze dried, high alpha acid, hops in 1 gallon of water for 1 hour, strain and pour onto malt (stir well to ensure it is all dissolved)Pour another gallon of boiling water onto hops (You may like to add a small quantity of an aroma variety for extra taste at this stage)and allow to stand for 45 minutes, then strain and add liquor to wort. top up to 5 gallons with cold water and add 1 table spoon of brewers yeast then fit lid (I use a lid with an airlock)and allow to stand in a warm place for about two weeks. Siphon into bottles (You can reuse empty PET pop bottles, make sure they are clean and sterilised with Milton or similar) and add one teaspoon of sugar to every 2 litres of beer. Allow to stand for another two weeks (Or until beer is clear and bottles are hard) Pour carefully to prevent disturbance of the yeast deposit and sup. Lovely, tasty, beer!Great product, fast delivery.

YUM YUM - GORGEOUS!
I bought this to make malted raisin bread with but haven't been able to stop dipping a big spoon in it and eating it by the half-pound. My Dad used to have this for making his beer when I was a kid, and it was forbidden to me. So I used to wait until he'd gone out. It still tastes as good now as it ever did. I have found so many uses for it besides the raisin bread - I make a 'soreen' type malt loaf, sticky and gorgeoous, it's lovely on ice-cream (and in ice-cream if you make your own - malt, rum & raisin - to die for!) and pancakes. Its a natural sweetner to have in coffee, especially with a dollop of cream in it! Lovely in cakes, esp. chocolate, date & walnut, carrot, fruit, etc., just a tablespoon added to the recipe. Try a bit in chocolate chip cookies, gives moisture and a lovely taste. For colds and 'flu, try 1 beechams powder, 1 squeeze of lemon and barley malt extract to taste. It's better than honey! It's such good value in this giant tub, I was paying 4 pounds odd for a half pound jar and it was gone in no time. I'm sure you will find many other uses of your own for this natural, delicious product. Yummy!

Great for home brewing
I've just kegged a 5 gallon batch of lovely beer made with a full tub of this LME, some additional sugar & honey, speciality grains and cascade hops (approx 4.6% and 33 IBU). I used the Brewers Friend iPad app to formulate the recipe. At this stage the beer has a chocolaty, almost stout character, but this is balanced nicely with the cascade hops. A nice balance of rich and refreshing flavours. Colour is very dark.Definitely worth a low cost brewing experiment.

Brewed beer with this twice now and great foundation.
This is the second time I have purchased this product and the second time I am super impressed with what I received.I try not to give a five star review but this product AND seller deserve it.First off the shipping time: One of the first of my ingredients to arrive.Packaging: The drum is solid and traveled un-tarnished in a wad of bubble wrap. (P.S.) I have saved both drums as they are great vessels to dissolve sugar in and pour with.OK the product :-)I purchased this product to create a Beer. And both times I got Beer: :-)The first beer I used natural hops with a bit of cooking and I loved it. It came out with a bit of a caramel smoothness and a little light in body. But the second beer I used East Kent Goldings Top Quality Hop Pellets but with Turbo Yeast (as I split this yield for another project) . And before I've even tasted it. it smells beautiful. It came out again with the same caramel smoothness but with a bit of a zing in the nostrils. Incredibly strong but still holding a good rich flavor.I'm going to be buying another soon simply because it is a solid cornerstone work from, but I want to work it differently next time. If you guys could help me I'd love a comment.

my mash recipe
cover and boil your preferred hops/flavoring agents until satisfied, strain off and keep liquid after. then add the extract to your fermentation bin with 500g of sugar. fill to 5 gallons. add yeast and ferment. you will have a strong beer at around 6% adv. altering the sugar levels is how you alter the abv. more sugar = more alcohol. less sugar = less alcohol.this malt is the cheapest i have found for a partial mash recipe. if you want to make beer cheaply, buy a budget ready made kit, because the price of good hops will knock the cost of this method up. if you want to progress and make proper craft beer with your own malt then 'how to brew' by John Palmer is the best there is

Careless Handling
This malt extract would have served my purpose very well.I use Malt Extract for home brewing and it is becoming difficult to obtain cost effectively. This seemed to be ideal but there have been problems with supply. Initially it was delivered with speed and no trouble but I received one delivery in which the flimsy cardboard box had been broken and the normally very tight fitting lid of the plastic container had been knocked off on one side and the extract had leaked out into the box. I sent a message about that and received a very prompt response with a promise to replace it cost free. I was told an attempt was made to do that on one Saturday morning that failed I do not know why. Another attempt was made the following Tuesday. The cardboard box was even more badly damaged than the first and malt extract had leaked out of the box. It was inside a plastic bag. The delivery man when I pointed that out said the damage had been reported and no attempt to deliver again should have been made. I have received a credit note to refund the purchase price which is no use to me so sadly I did not receive the replacement malt nor have I received the refund. I would rather have a safe delivery of the malt which should be possible with less careless handling and a stronger well packed box to stop movement of the container inside the box. The lid is difficult remove so it took some force to dislodge it indicating that the package had been thrown with some force onto the ground or some other solid surface.
