Pricey but worth every penny!

Set up was a little finicky for my cordless kobalt saw but that’s because the magnesium plate on the saw itself is quite small. The system works phenomenally especially with the clamps from truetrac. The written directions are a little difficult to understand but thankfully YouTube university was able to educate me and walked me through the set up pretty well! I’m probably going to get a new mounting plate and a couple new track anti chip out strips and buy a new saw that will work a bit better with the system, but the 8 foot system works great for your standard 4x8 sheet of plywood, straight and accurate cuts and not one 78 dollar sheet of plywood miscut! Well worth the price as it is quite easy to not cut perfectly straight!

Milwaukee M18 Success!

I saw this on the Woodworkers Guild YouTube page. I just couldn’t justify the money for the other high end Track Saws. I labored tirelessly the weekend before trying to make a perfect edge guide but my cuts were still not as good as I wanted. As others have mentioned, the saw blade can wander, especially towards the end of a cut. I had wasted too much ply and decided to pull the trigger on this.I almost opted not to install the base plate on my new M18 Milwaukee saw. See the photos. I had to perfectly place the first screw in the back right corner in a waffle dimple. A good call here was to pre-drill with a smaller diameter bit and then with the full sized bit. In a couple of places I had to drill from the underside and as carefully as I tried to hit the dimples, I didn’t quite hit the mark. In 2 spots, I used fender washers to span the waffle ribs and lock washers to make sure the vibration of the saw didn’t loosen them over time. There was one instance where I went through a thicker part of the base and had to get a longer screw at the hardware store.Alignment was fussy and took me a while. I started with spring clamps and gradually got to have 4 C-clamps. As the instructions warned (as well as the YouTube install video did), tightening down on the clamps caused small shifts out of alignment. I learned certain spots were better for clamping than others (more flat). I also found that I had to make sure the blade wasn’t deflecting under the pressure of the alignment block.M18, for what ever reason I don’t know, has a tapered base plate. I had to place one of my screws further in than would have been ideal. Two of my screws landed dead center of the guide channel/groove. After tightening to flush, I actually had to use some 100 grit sandpaper to knock down the mushrooming that had occurred. The only thing I would do differently is NOT cut the bevel into the anti-chip strip. It made a very sharp edge I am sure to cut myself on.I made 4 cuts today the long length of some 1/8” plywood. Absolutely flawless. I love that I can use a battery operated saw too. I had upgraded my table saw to have a very large Beismeyer fence and now I wish I just got this. Especially for heavy 3/4” ply, this thing is a godsend.Another amazing thing was it stayed in place without clamps! What a huge time saver! Should have done this sooner.I think the one drawback to using a system like this is dust collection. I plan to cut these all outside with a mask. And a few YouTubers have created their own dust shrouds to encase a circular saw while its making these cuts.

Precise - Great For Funiture Grade Plywood

This saw guide does what it's supposed to do. When cutting you may need to allow for saw blade width but frankly this is much faster than my old non-track guide. I'm a little leary of whether the white guide strips will hold up. They are very important for measuring exactly where to place the track. Plus they slide out of the track very easily which is not good. Placing my Dewalt saw on the sled worked out ok but considering how many Dewalt saws are out there, they could/should have designed a sled just for that saw.My one complaint about this track guide, and all track guides are their cost. Frankly I find the cost of this track guide quite expensive considering it doesn't include a saw. I've seen others that come with saws either cheaper or comparable. But with the belief that you get what you pay for, I was leary of purchasing the cheaper ones. Being a fan of Kreg equipment, if I had known they were coming out with the track saw solution, I would have waited. The bottom line though is that having made several cuts on some oak plywood, I do think this is a quality product that allows for precision cuts.

Made in USA by an American

This track saw system works great! The directions are home made but not in a bad way, if you get lost or confused about setting up or "calibration" they (True Trac) have a youtube channel. I have a lower end model of a ryobi circ. saw and didn't have a lot of "meat" to the right of the blade so it was difficult for me to put the base sled on just right. But I took my time followed the directions that came with the tool and got the sled on my circular saw right. I did a couple test cuts to get a feel for how it works and ripped a sheet of ply wood straight as an arrow and I didn't even have to use clamps!!! I love this system and am glad it is made by an American in America, I'm sure you'll love this too!

ABSOLUTELY a great tool, and one I do not want to be without!

OK, I admit, when I first got this, I was disappointed... mainly because I didn't understand the instructions. I was going to return this, but called the manufacturer. The gent who designed the took spoke with me for some time, and explained things--he said that they need to update the instructions, as a couple of things have changed. He was also very gracious and said that, instead of returning it right away, if I wanted to keep it for a couple of months and try it, they would still accept a return. He also sent me a couple of extra edge guides, free of charge.Well, after following the new directions, I have to say that I would never want to be without this tool! Sure, I have a table saw, but there are times when trying to manhandle a piece of 3/4" cabinet grade plywood onto a tablesaw, by myself, is just too much trouble. So, I use the TrueTrac and I get just as straight, just as true, of a cut as I could get on a table saw. In fact, I use it so often, I have dedicated one saw to the TrueTrac and just leave it mounted on the base all the time.PLUS, if I need to cut a tapered piece (say, going from 27 1/4" wide at one end of a 96" piece, to 26 7/8" at the other, using the TrueTrac is a heck of a lot easier than trying to wrestle the full sheet of plywood onto my table saw AND use a sled to taper it accurately. You can't go wrong with this tool if you need to make cuts in plywood.
