Truly An Encyclopedia...
This is the most comprehensive book on candlestick charts that I've seen. In it, Mr. Bulkowski gives some very informative statistics. For me, one of the most valuable pieces of information the book provides shows that some candlesticks don't always perform as expected as some books describe them. As an example, some books describe some candles as reversal candles, but this book provides statistics that show otherwise. It is a heavy book, and for me, it is not one to be read from cover-to-cover in a few days. Instead, what I did was to read the first part of each chapter, the trading tactics section, and the sample trade section. That gave me an overview. Now, I keep the book by my desk for a reference manual. If one wants to use candelstick charts in their trading, I recommend this book plus the books written by Steve Nison which can be purchased on Amazon. There may be other good books on the subject, but I've not read them. For me, Nison's books plus this one is all that I need. For trading, I rely upon candlesticks, price action, and trend lines. I don't use any indicators such as moving averages, MACD, etc. I find they just clutter the screen.

Reference Manual
Great book to be used for a reference manual. Steve brought forth an number of interesting concept using statistics in chart form. This is something you can not memorize, so as a reference manual it excels. He repeats again and again about his verification methods and how he arrived at his candle accuracy numbering/percentage method of a selected candle pattern. It’s a 700+ page book, well written, but is slanted towards the seasoned trader. This book does not tie together technical analysis with candles

So much information
This thing is loaded with stats, information, tests, trials...you name it. So not only does it go into every pattern there is, it also lists out how it performed and the conditions for the tests. A must have for all traders libraries.

Bulkowski's books = INDISPENSABLE
I own three of Thomas Bulkowski's books, including "Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns" and "Encyclopedia of Candlestick Patterns". As a day trader and chartist (Twitter: @peterghostine), I simply cannot survive without these two indispensable references on my desk. I can tell you without hesitation that if you wish to become a successful trader or technician, add Thomas Bulkowski's books to your collections. In addition, all of the author's books are written to keep you entertained while you absorb the invaluable material. He's an excellent writer, trader, and investor.

Active Options Investor
I am a very active technical options investor. This is one of the most useful books in my library. It's most significant value is that it actually provides statistics on the historical performance of each candlestick pattern. These are backed up with raw data (counts, percentages) he found, and includes many other metrics. I was originally surprised at some of the very popular patterns that actually have little more than even odds of predicting direction. In addition it provides a detail explanation of the patterns, with examples, and how they are best used.

Great book
If you want to understand certain patterns this is explained very well by Bulkowski. You will need some other books to go with this one if you want all the information necessary to be a good trader

a really good book
The book fully meets my expectation and it's still worthwhile although the ability to page through some of it in the internet exists. I would have rated the whole thing with 5 stars if the packaging had allowed for direct delivery. I had to go to customs office in my town to pick it up because the bag hasn't had the receiving information attached to it. I had to open it in front of them to dig the bill out of the carton box.
